The Keekar Trees
I remember faintly the Keekar trees passing by through the train window, which gave the indication that we were now close.
A city where people came to be someone, to build a life that means something.
I came with a small dream to study, absolutely no idea what I wanted to become.
It was a scape route for me from the comfort of my home.
All I knew was that I wanted to be independent, live on my own.
I started my journey of becoming...
Today, 20 years later, I saw the Keekar trees again. This time from a different window. In the peripheries of the same city, which helped me realise who I am.
But, it's different
20 years back, when I saw them, I was looking at a future unknown
Now I'm looking backwards
Grateful to the roads travelled and to all the people who walked alongside
This city taught me resilience
To find certainty in the uncertain
It gave me courage
And, a deeper understanding of who I am

Nostalgic!
