MEDIA AS A MIRROR TO SOCIETY

It is very much evident that media plays an important role in today's scenario. We almost in all ways are influenced and affected by what we see on television, Internet and print media.Today we are much more outspoken about our feelings and our thought. It seems we have never been so much free about saying what we want to say.
On the other hand media too has never been so active and free about showing things to us.Therefore media's role has been much debated about. However my post here concerns with the television and daily soaps broadcasted  on it.
If media is a mirror of our society and exists to cater our needs, then why is it that they only show saas- bahu serials and on top of that they show feeble minded girls, either getting married or planning to do so.None of them are eager to study or to be employed.....even girls who are educated and belong to families having kilos of gold on their body all the time(while sleeping too) , trapped with bad and tricky in-laws don't think about being self dependent or free from miseries they are facing.
For god's sake what kind of society they are showing?
I believe we need a more responsible and realist media.Currently what they telecast in the name of daily soaps is far beyond reality. Need of the hour is to make women strong, not weak and dependent on others.
What happened to the serials like Seher ,Kshitij , Aaroh, Alp viram, Saaya and Saans?
These were the serials with the true essence of society.......they actually catered to our needs .
These were the serials which showed women as powerful ,independent and strong part of family, unlike what we see today where women just exist to plan their 'moves' or just for crying .
I just hope to see a re telecast of the serials I mentioned above...it will really be a pleasure to watch them again and eye soothing too.
At least they will help in certain ways to make a better social environment.
